This Anti-Apartheid Movement (AAM) flyer was made in response to the fear that South Africa's apartheid regime was attempting to create a nuclear bomb, after they carried out a secret nuclear test in 1979. The AAM campaigned to stop countries in the West from giving them nuclear technology.
The flyer invites people to sign up to the AAM mailing list. On the back is a message from then-President of the AAM, Bishop Trevor Huddleston.
The AAM was a British-based protest group founded in the 1959. Members led campaigns to raise awareness of the apartheid regime in South Africa, put pressure on the government to introduce economic sanctions, boycott South African products and events, free Nelson Mandela from prison, and more.
