Smith's Crisps first started in 1920 in Frank Smith's garage in Cricklewood, North London, behind the Crown pub. Mrs Smith cut and fried the potatoes, whilst her husband packed the crisps and sold them. The crisps became very popular and the company soon expanded. Tins such as this one were used during the 1950's and 1960's to keep the crisps fresh. The main factory was based in Brentford, Middlesex, but the company also had a factory based in Cricklewood.
