In the early 1900's, The Royal Agricultural Society brought land from Twyford Abbey with the intention of making it the permanent home of the Royal Agricultural Show. The site was named Park Royal in honour of the Prince of Wales, who opened the 1903 show. However, the plan to base the Royal Agricultural Show in London failed and it went back to travelling around the country in 1905.
