Twyford Lodge was a workhouse on the Twyford Abbey Estate. The 60-acre site included an administrative block, infirmary, male and female wards and a 50-bed nursery. This picture shows children from the nursey being taken out for a ride in a donkey cart, accompanied by two nurses. The workhouse buildings are now part of Central Middlesex Hospital.
