This picture shows women working in the Rib Making Shop of the Hooper & Company aircraft factory. The company was based next to North Wembley station and was originally established as a coachbuilders in 1896 before producing aeroplane wings and later, complete aircraft. By the end of the First World War, Hopper & Company were producing three complete aeroplanes a day, with the same number of spare parts.
