As the Covid-19 Pandemic continues to create constantly changing patterns and strange sequences of events, Artist and Social Designer Warren Reilly and Photographer Zuzu Valla decided to use the Lockdown to explore new ways of working and thinking. Produced via Zoom Call online, "Covid Kaleidoscope" is a collaborative photography project which aims to create thought-provoking work that breaks out of mainstream barriers, which can often consume practitioners in this day in age. Not only does the project explore the impact of the lockdown on one's mental health directly as a result of isolation from the outside world, but the project also represents the emotional turmoil experienced through the bombardment of horrific imagery coming through our screens surrounding the pandemic since March. As our lives slowly move into the digital sphere, with the majority of events turning to digital technology to function and allow public engagement, "Covid Kaleidoscope" provides a reflection of both the anxieties and benefits of using digital technology as a tool for creativity. The project aims to celebrate artistic practice in a time of crisis and how we, as artists and designers, can prevail in troubling times.
