Scope and Content
Material relating to Brent's architectural heritage, listed buildings and conservation areas. Some of the buildings included have been demolished. The contents includes a booklet giving details of listed buildings and conservation areas in the borough (1984), a letter from the planning department giving information on historical buildings in the borough (1983), a list of buildings in Wembley covered by the Town and Country Planning Act 1947 (1952) and catalogues for London Open House Week (1998-2003). Also includes a letter about the demolition of the White House Alperton (1955), a college project on conservation concerning Trobridge Houses in Slough Lane Kingsbury (1991), a memorandum on the Town and Country Planning Acts 1971-7and their effects on Christ Church Brondesbury (1982), a booklet on the South Kilburn Conservation Area and a souvenir history from the centenary of Charles Goddard House (Harrowdene House) (1996). There are extracts from books relating to Wembley Park House (1850), Rose Villa Willesden (1850), Neasden House (1850) and Dollis Hill Farm (1939). Also includes building plans for The Cottage Neasden and proposed developments of the site of 100 Elms Farm Sudbury (1989). There are materials relating to Mapesbury House including documents relating to the history of the house (1917) and extracts from a book on the Beauties of Middlesex (1850) There is information on Dollis Hill House such as a book on the house and William Gladstone (1901), a short history (1917), plans for alterations (1954), a letter from the Dollis Hill House Trust requesting help to find trustees (2002), an extract from The Municipal Journal on the purchase of land and the opening of Gladstone Park (1901) and a report for the Environmental Services into the future of the house (1999). Also includes sale catalogues from auctions of furniture from the Rose and Crown Preston (1868), Mapesbury House (1917) and Roundwood House (1937).
